Hi there lovelies, I am sooo excited to finally collate these resources into one HUUUUGE bundle for you! One of my aims for Jooya Teaching Resources is to work hard so you don’t have to. I am all about trying to save you money and precious time. Let’s face it, for those of us in the class room day in and day out, it can be a tough gig sometimes. Don’t get me wrong, I love my job, but there are some days that I am glad that I don’t have to think and I can just go in to class with prepared resources that I know will just work. So, that is what these resources represent – my hard work, classroom tested and proven resources that my students love, and I know yours will too.

This collection was originally designed for my Year 7 and 8 students, but they could easily work for both younger and older students too. So, what do you get in the Bundle – heaps!!!!

There are 5 complete units of work, 4 Musician Studies, 3 Mini Units of Work, 2 Assignments and 4 Bulletin Board Kits. To purchase all these resources individually would cost you over $100!

Units of Work

All Units of Work include the Super Six Reading Strategies and listening activities. I will list them in the order that I teach them! I will take up to a term (10 weeks) to teach these units. I like to teach half lesson with a music history lesson, second half on the instruments. Then the next lesson we spend time completing the listening activity that goes with the last lesson and then do practical activities. I have found that teaching this way, students will stay motivated and on task with the more “backsides in seats” part of the lesson because they really want to get their hands on the instruments!

In my own classroom, I have these units of work printed and bound into books. I have enough for one between two students. These books usually last me about three years of constant classroom use before they fall apart. Even though it is a lot of printing initially, I do not have to print anything else out for my students. Even the instrument diagrams I will ask them to draw into their own books. Not all of the drawings may not be beautiful, but the students do remember the details better!

My students do not write into these books. Any work that is to be written down – whether it be using the Super Six or answers to the listening activities, is completed into the student’s exercise books. I am pretty tough too, unless my students have completed their written work, they are not allowed onto an instrument – another big motivator to complete the work!

Bonus Mini Units of Work – these contains the Super Six and give more details on each instrument. These can be taught as an accompaniment and/or extension of the Instruments of Rock Unit. These units I have used mainly with my more Gifted and Talented classes. These lessons provide an extension on the lessons in the other unit.

The Piano and other Keyboard instruments

Musician Study- these are great as an extension to the Units of Work. Try using them as an assignment or even as extension work. Personally, I use them as lessons for when I am absent form class. I am lucky enough to have computers in my classroom, and my students will work in small groups to complete the research on each musician. I have even used these successfully with my class of Special Education students. I had a giggle the other day when they were researching P!nk. Some of the things they wrote about her were hilarious!!!

Bulletin Board Kits- these all have Borders, I Can statements, Large Format Cards, Small format Cards and Alphabet Bunting. Print onto colored paper to display or print onto white paper and have your students color and decorate your Bulletin Boards! Each kit has the same two different paper backgrounds and match each other kit beautifully J The nice thing abut these kits is simply the interchangeable parts. You can choose a border that you like, print and display, then leave up for the whole year. The small format cards are perfect size to print and hand out to students to glue into their books. Or use them like I do for cooperative learning activities – match it, mix/freeze/group etc… Only your teaching imagination will stop you with the possibilities.
