Rhythm Tic Tac Toe Game
This simple game has been given a new twist. In this little resource is a whole load of fun for you and your classes! The game is the same—two players cover up areas on the grid, and the first one to 3 in a row wins, simple. The twist is that the winner takes the value of the notes left uncovered on the game grid. After the set number of games, the player with the most points—wins.
In this set there are 12 different game boards. Each board has a different degree of difficulty—meaning that you can easily differentiate in your lessons. I have mine printed onto different colored paper, and then I have laminated them for durability. Believe me, the time taken to set this game will reward you—your students will be asking to play this game. Included with the game boards are game playing tokens and a scoring record page.
I use this game throughout the year, for all my classes. Even my senior students like to play this game. My classes especially love it when we set aside a whole lesson to have a Tic Tac Toe Competition. The winner is usually rewarded with something edible and a school commendation.
What I love about this game is the simplicity and learning that goes along with it. As students become more familiar with their note/rest values they will start to play strategically, trying to leave the bigger value notes to last. The game reinforces the learning of note values, but also, it will keep everyone happy as your students will be using numeracy skills too.
So go and grab this little gem, you won’t regret the fun that will be had by all!
